Hi all. I've been having some issues, after a clean build, to get Handbrake and VLC to install nicely. Portage keeps telling me I'm pulling multiple instances of ffmpeg into a single slot. Eg:

Code:
emerge -a handbrake

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
Dependency resolution took 4.39 s.

I've never really understood Portage with slots etc so I'm not quite sure how to fix this. I've not had these issues with ffmpeg/vlc/handbrake et al before, just seems to be after this build.

I don't have anything (that I can find) in package.mask or package.use that would try to manipulate ffpmeg and versions in some way.

Any ideas or pointers?

Thanks!

Assuming this is the entire output, first do:
Code:
emerge --oneshot =media-video/ffmpeg-4.4.4-r2 media-libs/opencv
followed by
Code:
emerge --ask media-video/handbrake

This should resolve the presented issue.

handbrake's ebuild (with the USE=fdk) depends on <media-video/ffmpeg-5.1
because of this bug: https://bugs.gentoo.org/907406

reportedly been fixed upstream already

Yes, Handbrake went on clean, but now emerge -auDN @world shows many issues with ffmpeg.

Probably because of:

I'll just live without Handbrake for right now and clean up the ffmpeg stuff. Thanks for the pointers!
