|
|
I would like to make a small change in the Gentoo Handbook. This is the procedure as far as I know:
1) I see the text in the handbook I would like to change.
2) I wrap the wanted change in a message on the talk page
3) A member of the Handbook project interprets the wanted change from 2, looks for the section in the source of the page, and manually applies the change.
This procedure requires both me and the member of the Handbook project to do several manual steps. I can imagine this is time consuming, and error prone.
I would like to propose a workflow like this:
1) I see the text in the handbook I would like to change.
2) I click edit, I see the page source code, I do the edit.
3) In the summary, I write out the reason why I think this change benefits everybody
4) When I click "save changes", the page with the proposed change is saved to my personal wiki, and the proposed change and the summary is added to the talk page of the handbook, with a link to the changed page on my personal wiki.
5) The member of the handbook project sees the message on the talk page, can see the proposed change on my personal wiki, and import that change into the official wiki (or deny the change)
6) Further communication about the proposed change can happen on the talk page.
Is the software running the wiki capable of holding changes to the wiki until they are approved by a moderator?
Is (a variation of) this workflow acceptable? |

genialePrutser,
File a bug at bugs.gentoo.org or more informally, talk to the guys in #gentoo-wiki. _________________ Regards,
