(I originally tried posting this in the talk page under https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Mac_Mini_(PowerPC_G4), but it didn't appear to work right, so I'm posting it here.)
A while back, I upgraded my 1.5-GHz G4 Mac mini from its original hard drive to a 240GB M.2 SATA SSD inside a 2.5" SATA-to-PATA adapter. Both Gentoo and Mac OS 10.4.11 are installed on it, with GRUB 2 as the Gentoo bootloader. I switch between them by holding down Alt on power-up (the selection made here sticks until it's changed). Both are fully functional, with about 80 GB allocated to Mac OS X and the remainder to Gentoo.
This is a late-model system...one that doesn't officially exist, as the EveryMac link describes. It was the last of the PowerPC Mac minis before the switch to x86. |
