whats a nice tool to configure a ethernet network on gentoo?
Right now I'm on DHCP which makes things very easy but soon I won't be, is there something like net-setup or similar?

I can't find net-setup on portage

hi,

just edit /etc/conf.d/net (or net.eth0 or whatever). the file is selfexplaining and it is easy and fast. so why starting a program for just changing the ethernet config?

because if you're switching from one network to the other it gets annoying in changing your configs file every time by hand. i tried to write some skripts myself but unfortunately without success. it was easy in slackware, but right now i'm not seeing through the gentoo skript management.

i'm looking too for the net-setup skript. i don't have the installation cd's with me, could somebody post this skript or any other solution for changing your network settings (fast)?

thanks a lot

btw: i have i wlan card and a built in ethernet card. what i need is the possibility to switch ethernet settings from dhcp to a fixed ip address with nameserver, gateway etc. and to shutdown ethernet to properly enable wlan per dhcp.
it's no problem to set-up ip, netmask and the nameserver by a script. where i fail is setting up the gateway, because i don't see how i could tell /etc/net.eth0 to choose any other config file than /etc/conf.d/net and how to execute /etc/net.eth0 within a script.
