I used to use iBus/Anthy, but I can't seem to get it working on Wayland.
Fcitx seems like a promising candidate, but it seems that version 5 is necessary to support Wayland, and getting that in has stalled: 760501.
Are there any other options? Is there anything I might be able to do to assist with getting the bug unblocked? |

I'm not currently using wayland, but I just installed fcitx5 on KDE6 with wayland and qt6 enabled, and it seems to have worked. You might/probably need to install Code: | app-i18n/fcitx-configtool | in order for it to be usable; without that I couldn't configure it to utilize mozc. I'm not sure if this is necessary, but I activated the kcm use flag, then in systemsettings you can navigate to the "Input Method" item, and click the button to "+ Add Input Method", uncheck the button to limit the list to the current language and then search for your input method of choice. _________________ "We have/need art, so that we don't die of the truth." -- Friedrich Nietzsche |

I'll give fcitx another chance.
Once I used to use ibus, then I don't know why it didn't work anymore and I switched to fcitx. Then I had to go back to ibus. Now I'll try fcitx again. _________________ Il numero di post non fa di me un esperto! Anzi! |

I used ibus for a while then switched to fcitx, I don't remember why anymore but probably the same thing - it stopped working. Fcitx has been fine for me, but mozc broke for a couple of months with compile errors; so if you're considering using it I suppose keep that in mind.
It's still a little tricky though, like it seems to not be switching input in GTK apps (like when I try to type hiragana in Firefox)... I guess that's going to need some research. _________________ "We have/need art, so that we don't die of the truth." -- Friedrich Nietzsche |

I'm going to check, I'm using ibus with mozc o anthy.
No problem at all with x11, while I can't make it work on Wayland.
Wayland is a jinx. _________________ Il numero di post non fa di me un esperto! Anzi! |

I had ibus/mozc installed.
Now I passed ti fcitx/anthy and all works well both on X11 and Wayland.
When remote incoming connection will be working, I'll pass to Wayland. _________________ Il numero di post non fa di me un esperto! Anzi! |

Glad to hear you've made some progress. It's just too bad that this area seems to have regressed from where it was several years ago. _________________ "We have/need art, so that we don't die of the truth." -- Friedrich Nietzsche |
