Here's the situation -- I've been using the root user for a bit so I can get my system up and running (fresh install)
So now that I've gotten confortable with my user settings, I found that I can't run Mozilla (/usr/bin/mozilla) without using root. How can I change this without borking permissions or something?
(If I run mozilla from my username, it'll run, but not appear in X <top will show it as running>)[/i] |

Hi
OhLaLa & S_it!
How about you logout root right now.
(shutdown and reboot to make sure X
has non-root user permissions and such properly set, maybe?)
Then login as user you.
Then run mozilla and post output if problems.

But what error msgs do you get? You can usually see them in the console where you started X (ctrl+alt+f1). |

None at all. Interestingly enough, I can start mozilla as my user when an instance is already running. But if I close the root-opened mozilla window, then no go. |

Have you installed any mozilla extensions while root? Extensions that install into the global chrome dir will much things up for non root users if you do not make the files the extension install globally writable. If mozilla tries to load an extension that it dosent have permissions for it tends to cause it to just sit there and hang. |

Nope.
I ended up re-emerging mozilla and problem solved. |
