|
|
I am looking to buy a PCI wireless card and I need to know which work, which don't and how hard they are to setup.
The machine is running the 2.6 kernel and I have to have WEP working, the wireless network is 802.11b.
Any suggestions, recommendations, success stories etc. would be greatly appreciated! _________________ If computers get too powerful, we can organize them into a committee -- that will do them in.

I use a Netgear MA311 that works great with the kernel orinoco modules.... Havent' had one problem, and I've been using 2.5/2.6 kernels for months. Highly recommended! |

Have you used WEP with this card? _________________ If computers get too powerful, we can organize them into a committee -- that will do them in.

I use this cheap card on an older Dell laptop and use the kernel orinico_cs driver from 2.6. I also use 128 bit encryption. The only issue is, and it's my fault, is that I can't get it to remember the encryption key any time I reboot or remove or insert the card. I've tried editing the wireless.opts file and still no go. I get it working everytime by issueing the command iwconfig eth0 key my key. It's working great with encryption enabled. I know the explanation is a bit confusing, but half the time, I am confused. Hope this helps.
