Good evening,

I'm having some trouble with my scanner. I've previously gotten it to work, but now when I try to plug it in it indicates error and dmesg prints the following:
Code:
usb 1-8: new high-speed USB device number 13 using xhci_hcd
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/64, error -32
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/64, error -32
usb 1-8: new high-speed USB device number 14 using xhci_hcd
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/64, error -32
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/64, error -32
usb usb1-port8: attempt power cycle
usb 1-8: new high-speed USB device number 15 using xhci_hcd
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/8, error -32
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/8, error -32
usb 1-8: new high-speed USB device number 16 using xhci_hcd
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/8, error -32
usb 1-8: device descriptor read/8, error -32
usb usb1-port8: unable to enumerate USB device

I can't recall having dabbled with anything that should have affected this since it worked last time. I've probably upgraded kernel a few times since, but I'm on gentoo-kernel-bin (6.1.57) so I don't think that should affect things.

Any ideas?

Same here. Thanks to your post https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1165416.html my scanner was finally working, but then fully bricked.

I didn't changed the Kernel in the meantime and sys-apps/usbutils was updated in May 2023 last time.
I made a fresh install on my laptop where this scanner never was connect to. But the very same problem appeared.
Every else USB devices (like mouse, keyboard, stick) working fine on the same ports.
I also changed the USB cable but without effect.
Lastly I connect the scanner to a Windows only laptop and this says 'something went wrong', too. So, unfortunately,
it really looks like my scanner bricked, but I dunno why. I consider it's because of the driver. The correct firmware for
Epson Perfection V370 is actually esfwdd.bin, but this wasn't working here.

Wow dude, I'm so sorry. I had no idea. I haven't gotten around to looking into this since my original post until today. I guess mine is bricked as well then... Did you manage to unbrick yours?
