Hello.

Is there a way to increase font size on this forum?

I have to increase to 150 on my browser to get a comfortable reading and I have to zoom in on my phone to read messages

There doesn't seem to be anything in the settings that allows you to change the font size.
You can use a browser plugin like 'Custom Style Script' and change css font size for the various tag/class.

I've set 200% zoom for forums.gentoo.org for firefox on my 14" FullHD laptop.
So yeah. Pretty normal.

If the infra file gentoo.css could be changed to use percent or em values, then the browser could be in more control rather than using px sizes.

Sooner or later there will be an upgrade to phpbb3, see bug #880071.

Firefox remembers the zoom level per URL, so if you set it to something acceptable, (a) it doesn't affect other sites, and (b) you get the same acceptable zoom next time. Works for me.
(The downside is I once set zoom to something small on a friend's photo-happy web site to get the pictures on my screen, and ages later sent him on a wild goose chase to work out why I got such small text! I'd forgotten I'd zoomed.)
