i have set up my laptop and everything works except for my wireless card..

i have the modules built into the kernel like instructed in the forums... and i get everthing to start up correctly except for my ap.. it never gets my ap. only a bunch of 4's.

i am using :
and a netgear ma 401 (prism2 chipset)
pcmcia-cs
wireless tools
vanilla kernel

this is what my iwconfig shows:
Code:

bash-2.05b# iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

eth1      IEEE 802.11-DS  ESSID:"Foxtrot"  Nickname:"Foxlaptop"
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.412GHz  Access Point: 44:44:44:44:44:44
          Bit Rate:2Mb/s   Tx-Power=15 dBm   Sensitivity:1/3
          Retry min limit:8   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:4DB3-9FAE-7B [2]   Security mode:open
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:0/92  Signal level:134/153  Noise level:134/153
          Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:459  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:8  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

My wireless.opts file has this in it:

Code:

case "$ADDRESS" in

*,*,*,*)

   INFO="Netgear MA401RA Wireless Adapter"
   ESSID="Foxtrot"
   MODE="Managed"
   KEY="4db3-9fae-7b [2]"
   IWCONFIG="ap 00:0C:41:41:2B:76"

;;
esac

and my dmesg gives me this:

Code:

I suggest you compile all related things as modules, then remove pcmcia-cs and emerge wlan-tools-something..
