Hello everyone,

Please note that all of these issues are non existent when attempting an install within a virtual machine. Any issues I describe are referring to the install via USB. Multiple installs attempted with the Minimal Installation CD release date: 2023-12-17 and 2023-12-24

I've read the handbook and tried installing Gentoo but encountered many strange problems. The primary one probably being "Loading module dm-multipath...", after which, insmod tries to load the drivers:

insmod /lib/modules/6.1.67-gentoo-x86_64/kernel/drivers/dax/dax.ko
insmod /lib/modules/6.1.67-gentoo-x86_64/kernel/drivers/md/dm-mod.ko
insmod /lib/modules/6.1.67-gentoo-x86_64/kernel/drivers/md/dm-multipath.ko

Here's where the weirdness starts. Some notes:

- The number of the drivers (mentioned above) that successfully loads on each attempt is seemingly random (before freezing).
- Sometimes all the drivers load and I can proceed with the install after "LiveCD" appears on a newline. However other issues appear later, namely the "LiveCD" disappearing after entering commands.
- Should the drivers load, the internet connection is sometimes established automatically, otherwise pinging any server returns "Temporary failure in name resolution"

Things I've tried:

- Entering the following commands in GRUB: "nomodeset", "nofb", "modprobe.blacklist=dm-multipath", "single", "rd.modules-load=off", "dm_mod.multipath=0"
- Burning the LiveGUI of both Mint Cinnamon and Gentoo onto the USB. When booting from the USB and entering the OS, the screen was black on both. I bypassed this with Mint by entering the OS in "safe"/"recovery" mode (It's a menu option, I don't remember which one it was). This worked and I managed to install Mint that way, but when booting into the installed OS I was stuck on Mint logo. Gentoo didn't have such an option.
- Using a different USB. Trying all the possible options of burning the ISO image with Rufus on both USBs as well.

PC specs:

- CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400 @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
- GPU: RTX 3060 Ti
- RAM: 16GB
- Storage: NVMe
