i'm not aware of wpa-hu, and `e-file wpa-hu` didn't return any results - what package provides it? Or is that a typo, and you meant to write `wpa_gui`?

Anyway, what's the output of `ip a`?

Hi,
Yes, sorry - that was a typo and should have been wpa_gui.

Now here are the results requested:

The page https://wireless.docs.kernel.org/en/latest/en/users/drivers/b43.html shows 14e4:4315 as supported

Your kernel config should have CONFIG_B43=m and all supporting B43 options (beside broken or debug) as enabled. This can be tested in the running kernel by running: modprobe --first-time b43 (Note that modprobe outputs nothing on success)

You will also need sys-firmware/b43-firmware installed before b43 driver will work.

Hi,
I do have a firmware installed:

Code:
IgorsGentoo /usr/src/linux # emerge -pv b43-firmware
 * Last emerge --sync was 2y 293d 2h 8m 59s ago.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R    ] sys-firmware/b43-firmware-5.100.138:b43::gentoo  0 KiB

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 KiB

 * IMPORTANT: 20 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news read to view new items.

IgorsGentoo /usr/src/linux #

Trying to load the driver I get:

Code:

IgorsGentoo /usr/src/linux # modprobe --first-time b43
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'b43': Exec format error
IgorsGentoo /usr/src/linux #

However, surprisingly enough, get:

Code:

IgorsGentoo /usr/src/linux # cat .config | grep b43
IgorsGentoo /usr/src/linux #

It looks like something is not completely installed...

Thank you.

P.S.: I knnow that the tree is old. The card didn't work since the machine got the Gentoo, which was almost 6-7 years ago and was always on the wired connection. However, I recently switched providers and thought about making this machine work with WiFi as well...

P.P.S.: The full kernel config can be found here: https://dpaste.com/5LM3SLBWA
