mldonkey giving "Exception Invalid_argument("Array

I emerged and installed mldonkey. Everything seemed to work but I dont seem to download anything. It says I am connected to x servers out of y. I can search and then start downloads but this is where my problem starts. I even tried to see if the program was working downloading some small mp3's from britiny spears and although it seemed to start a full download has never occurred. It acts like it is connecting and then I might get a lousy 2.0 kb/sec dowload but nothing every finishes.

In the terminal window where I started mldonkey with "mlgui" there is this constant message popping up "Exception Invalid_argument("Array.blit") in reader" Anyone know if this is linked to the fact that nothing seems to ever download?
