Dear Gentoo users,
what do you think of this: https://happyware.com/detail/index/sArticle/893/number/1251211
My experience with Gentoo is based on Intel/amd64 and was so far really smooth and quite effortless after setup.
What are your experiences with running Gentoo on small to medium sized server systems?
Which kind of limitations do you usually run into with arm64?
I heard that not all applications would be available.
Would the following requirements be possible with arm64?:
- headless Gentoo with QEMU virtual hosts on 2-10 remote desktops (Windows/Linux)
- Networking (router, firewall)
- llama2 70 B AI text model
- Data storage
Regards and thanks a lot for your opinions, answers and shared interest on this topic,

f1tz,
I have a Howk
As its a real server it has a Board Management Computer (BMC) that provides remote everything.
Just as well as its in my (unheated) garage about 50 yards from the house.
It runs QEMU guests for building for Pi4, testing GCC and so on.
I don't know llama2 70 B AI text model so I've not tried.
What is the ebuild called?
Data storage won't be a problem but check how many SATA ports you will have.
The only reason that I don't run my router and firewall there is I get RCU timeout errors every 4 to 6 weeks.
I think that's that the CPU though, as other users report similar issues.
I suspect that none of the kernel devs ran test on that CPU and six weeks per bisect step means its something I'll live with. _________________ Regards,
