|
|
My system:
AMD 64 FX-51
Asus SK8N
1 DIMM Mushkin 1GB PC3200 ECC Reg 400MHz
ATI Radeon 9600XT
2 x Western Digital SATA 120GB 7200RPM
1 Floppy
1 Sony DVD
1 Sony 8x DVD Burner
500W (EPS-12V) A+GPB Power - box says for Intel and AMD Server M/B
My Problem:
I've hooked up everything onto this Mobo set all the jumpers correctly and setup the Hard Drives using the built in SATA Raid. I have both of my DVD roms on seperate IDE controllers both of them set to master.
First thing, i turned on the power supply. The light on the Mobo turns on telling me that its getting power. Then turn on monitor (yes its connected to the computer) and system turns on. Here's the problem. All the fans trun on the dvd roms turn on but nothing else happens. The monitor does not turn on (the lights orange so there is power, but it does not turn green). Additionally the mouse and keyboard do not light up.
Can somebody please help me on this?
I've tried different graphic card, i've even put the ati in another computer and it works. DVD's open and close. Mouse and keyboard work on another computer too. the light on the floppy does not come on, it turns on if i connect the cable wrong though. The ram is ECC Registered so that should work. The mobo manual says that it supports a single dimm, but i'm not sure if that can be 1GB.
Any one???? |

athlon64 FX has dual-ddr memory controler...
so... you should have at least two memory DIMMS.. has they work in pairs...
allthough I could be wrong and the system can work using only one DDR bus..(a p4 with dual ddr of mine, at first was only using one controler and worked..)
but... having only 1 DIMMS looks odd to me.. in a dual ddr system... _________________ Miguel Sousa Filipe

Sadly, this is the fault of the motherboard. I have had the same problem (first would boot up after some random rebooting/taking out the power cable..., then crapped out a few days later), got a replacement, also wouldn't boot up. I think I read on some other thread here of someone with the same problem. IMHO the SK8N model is crap. Safest bet would be to get some other motherboard, unless you're willing to try them one after another untill one works... |
