Hello guys,
I have a stupid question. Is Portage and more specifically this ebuild (the 9999 version), get a release archive and installs that, or does it clone the repository and installs that?
You see, I had a problem with the software and the absolute chads that maintain the software fixed it. Now I need to test to see if it worked.
I was thinking to check the source code that Portage has and see if the fix is in there. From my research the code is saved at `/var/cache/distfiles/` but I can only find an tar achieve in there that looks to be the release version.

9999 ebuilds pull the newest version in project's repo.
You should be good with this one (unless the devs are waiting with merge to the main branch until you test the fix, but this is something they should have clearly told you, in which case you wouldn't have asked this question)
