I am updating to profile 46 on one of my two gentoo systems.
I do not have a binrepos.conf in either.
Here is my output:
qed /etc/portage # emerge --ask --oneshot --getbinpkg sys-devel/gcc
!!! /etc/portage/binrepos.conf is missing (or PORTAGE_BINHOST is unset), but use is requested.
!!! /etc/portage/binrepos.conf is missing (or PORTAGE_BINHOST is unset), but use is requested.
Should I be concerned? _________________ Without diversity there can be no evolution:)

I don't have /binrepos.conf either ... because I don't load binary packages ... that's why I have/had to omit the --getbinpkg parameter. This means that with my "emerge -e @world" I have all packages built from the sources.
If you want binary packages, you need the configuration for this. _________________ https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/User:Pietinger |

Nothing to worry about, the warning message is displayed because you're trying to use --getbinpkg despite not having any mirror for binary packages configured in /etc/portage/binrepos.conf. This file doesn't exist by default, at least on my two installs. I had to create it manually on one of them because I wanted to use binary packages. |
