Since updating to the recent (550.67) nvidia driver, I have a weird bug where, from Xorg, after switching to another TTY (where I usually do updates/etc) and then switching back to Xorg, I get an unresponsive black screen with nothing but my cursor visible.
Is this possibly something I could fix? Or something I have to pray for nvidia to fix? I've been working around it for the time being by logging out of my graphical session before switching TTYs.

Well, I thought I'd put a thread up while I poked around for myself, but I found the solution(?) pretty quickly. It's something to do with picom (I usually run openbox, haven't checked if XFCE's compositor does it too) and I can just temporarily disable picom. Different picom settings don't really seem to make any difference.
Edit: Yes, XFWM's compositor does it too. Odd. |

Don't know if related, but in recent times I sometimes get into a mode where popup dialogues or windows are black.
Sometimes retrying them works.
Restarting X fixes it.

Are you sure you when you go back you go back to TTY on which X is running ? Recently traditional TTY7 was switched to TTY2 by default |

Today I'm getting the exact same behavior described by OP :
- switching to TTY1 to do some stuff
- switching back to TTY7 where my session is opened
---> entire black screen with only the mouse cursor responding
Forced to restart the desktop-manager (openrc) service and restart my session.
This behavior is completely reproductible.
