I have emerged k3s:
[ebuild R ~] sys-cluster/k3s-1.25.4_p1::gentoo USE="kubectl-symlink -rootless" 0 KiB

it started working after I upgraded the system, I suspect upgrading iptables got it to work because the k3s cluster only came up after I unemerged iptables package, I emerged the new version and it is still up so far.
