I'd like to experiment with BOLT

something I read in the LLVM documentation ...
so, how do I use it when compiling eg firefox?
I saw recently that firefox is putting a load of 4.5 on a 4 cpu laptop (when in a Google meet meeting), so some little optimization is in place.
I found this link: https://cgit.geodns-global.gentoo.org/fork/llvm-project.git/?h=main, but it isn't clear what it does / how to use it.
Is it an overlay? if so, how do I use it?
