What should I do if my networkmanager cannot connect to wifi? I can use a mobile phone data cable to share the local connection. Network cables can also be used.
Code:
ifconfig -a

There is only local connection in the network connection. Why? I just recompiled the kernel but I didn’t change anything.[/code]

wlmosv,

There are no wifi interfaces listed.

Please post the output of
Code:
lspci -nnk

Pastebin your dmesg output.
Pastebin your kernel .config file.

We need complete unfiltered pastebins as we are looking for things that should be there but are not, as well as what is actually there.

those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

wlmosv,

There are no wifi interfaces listed.

Please post the output of
Code:
lspci -nnk

Pastebin your dmesg output.
Pastebin your kernel .config file.

We need complete unfiltered pastebins as we are looking for things that should be there but are not, as well as what is actually there.

I use openrc. I installed dhcpcd and networkmanager before. They conflict with each other but it does not affect my wifi. Now I have deleted dhcpcd from the startup items. The reason why this failure occurred today is that I closed it while connected to wifi. When I open the lid of my laptop again when I move to another place, there is no wifi in nmtui, and there is no wifi in it. Now I can only connect to the computer through the phone's usb shared network to access the Internet. Although networkmanager can be started, as shown above, I am in In my network column, I found that there is nothing connected to wifi and now there is only one wired connection 2 :( :(

wlmosv,

Code:
00:14.3 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Cannon Lake PCH CNVi WiFi [8086:a370] (rev 10)
        Subsystem: Intel Corporation Wireless-AC 9560 [8086:0034]
        Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi
        Kernel modules: iwlwifi

looks good.

Please use wgetpaste to post the entire dmesg and .config files.
No grepping, no fragments, no filtering.
wgetpaste is a small bash script.

There are no errors in your post but the iwlwifi output in dmesg is unusually verbose.
That makes me suspect that your kernel has a debug option on.

Hi NeddySeagoon, I have solved this problem. I reinstalled fimware and tried to switch to the binary disk kernel of gentoo. When I switched back to the kernel I use now, the problem was solved and the wifi worked. Sorry, I can't send the logs again now because it's late in my country. Obviously, there are still some problems with my network. Especially my steam can't download games normally until now. If you don't mind, I will send you other logs after 2:00 pm on April 28th, East Asian Time. I hope you can help me see if there is a problem with the kernel module compilation options. Anyway, thank you. My friend.

wlmosv,

wgetpaste puts your logs onto a website.
They last for between 24 hours and 7 days.
You post the weblink here so we can find the logs. Like this
Code:
wgetpaste -c 'dmesg'
Your paste can be seen here: https://bpa.st/7YTA

I'm in the UTC+1 timezone. In Scotland. Others will see your posts if I am sleeping.

Hello NeddySeagoon I got out of bed and turned on my computer. The time I saw you was around 8pm. Here are my logs:

dmesg
[url]https://bpa.st/4XQA[/url]
I encountered an error when I ran View .config file:
Code:
wlmosv$ sudo cat /usr/src/linux/.config | wgetpaste --verbose
Apparently nothing was received. Perhaps the connection failed.
--2024-04-27 03:49:13--  https://bpa.st/api/v1/paste
Resolving bpa.st... 198.18.0.40, fc00::24

2024-04-27 03:49:16 ERROR 400: [color=red]Bad Request.[/color]

I checked that the above kernel file is indeed complete and the forum seems to have restrictions on such long files.

[   20.856768] wlan0: authenticated
...
[   20.901355] wlan0: associated

That's the hard bit.
However, there is no sign of the interface being configured.

Further
Code:
[    7.399570] r8169 0000:07:00.0 enp7s0: renamed from eth0
udev renames eth0 but not wlan0.
That's unusual but not impossible.

wlan0 is there, it needs dncpcd or whatever you une to configure it to make it work.

This means that your kernel is probably OK.

Different pashebin sites keep pasts for different lengths of time and accept pastes of different sizes.
Try
Code:
wgetpaste -h
and use trial and error to find a site that will take your .config file.

if dhcpcd is installed,
Code:
dhcpcd wlan0
should make wlan0 work until the lease expires.

NeddySeagoon I checked the wiki carefully and now I got the contents of the kernel configuration file:
https://0x0.st/XH9p.txt

Do you mean that I need dhcpcd now? But then my steam seems to be worse. Anyway, s team cannot download games now. The network seems to be normal, but I would like to ask you to help me check the kernel. Thank you.

wlmosv,

Don't do
Code:
chattr -i /etc/resolv.conf
That file may need to change is you use several different providers as they can fore force you to use their own nameservers.
Its easy to spot. Ping by name fails and ping by IP address works.

Code:
[   22.305859] warning: `kded5' uses wireless extensions which will stop working for Wi-Fi 7 hardware; use nl80211
[   22.343662] wlan0: Limiting TX power to 21 (21 - 0) dBm as advertised by 96:fa:2a:bd:ea:17
is new.
It suggests that some data has been exchanged over wlan0.

Does
Code:
ifconfig -a
show that wlan0 has an IP address after
Code:
dhcpcd wlan0
has been run?

Code:
dhcpcd wlan0
will invoke dhcpcd once for wlan0, regardless of the running state of the service.
(Re)starting dhcpcd will do nothing for interfaces that are not listed in /etc/init.d/

hi
Code:

wlmosv$ sudo vim /etc/resolv.con
wlmosv$ sudo vim /etc/resolv.conf
wlmosv$ sudo chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf
wlmosv$ cat /etc/resolv.conf

nameserver 8.8.4.4
nameserver 2001:4860:4860::8844
wlmosv$

Don't know if this is possible
Currently, the wifi is working, but I don’t know why some software cannot download things, such as steam,,,

wlmosv,

Good, that works.

Everything is good apart from bringing up the interface.
You may choose at most one configuration toot.
When you try to use several tool at the same time, they fight over wpa_supplicant and none work.

Right now, none of your network configuration tools are starting wlan0. That's a good place to start from.
Pick one and set it up to start wlan0.

Everything seems normal now I installed dhcpcd and networkmanager at the same time and set them as startup items. Is this okay? I saw that NetworkManager's wiki seems to say that it cannot be used with dhcpcd. However, except that steam cannot download games, everything else is perfect.

wlmosv,

Start a new topic for Steam.
I'm not a gamer and know nothing about it.
