Hello,
A bunch of libretro cores are available in gentoo (and also eclass for libretro-core)
eix --in-overlay gentoo --only-names libretro
Code: | games-emulation/libretro-bnes
games-emulation/libretro-dosbox
games-emulation/libretro-fceumm
games-emulation/libretro-info
games-emulation/libretro-nestopia
games-emulation/libretro-snes9x
games-emulation/libretro-twentyfortyeight |
but retroarch is nowhere to be found
So, I've been using for months (or years) a custom localrepo for retroarch (and a bunch of other cores) without issue.
Code: | games-emulation/libretro-blastem

(all cores are set to 9999 version to avoid headaches with updates )
I wonder if it could finally be added to gentoo ? Or is there any blocking issue that prevent it ?
Thanks |

sdauth,
If you already have the ebuilds, contribute them to the guru overlay.
That way, you are the maintainer, so you get the bugs to fix :)
To get them moved into ::gentoo requires a gentoo developer to take an interest in the ebuilds.
Be warned that this could be you ... it's addictive. :) _________________ Regards,

NeddySeagoon,
Yes I know. The cold truth is that I am too lazy to do it.
I looked at the gentoo log and can't find any trace of retroarch. I wonder why there are still some cores in ::gentoo
From what I know, these can only be used with retroarch (correct me if I'm wrong)
Anyway, let this thread be a thermometer to measure enthusiasm about adding retroarch to ::gentoo
Maybe it will pick devs interest to add it to ::gentoo (or even me, who knows !) |

sdauth,
File a bug. Most devs don't read the forums. _________________ Regards,

I noticed a bug was filed a few years ago : https://bugs.gentoo.org/653274
with a pull request : https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/13253
but it is closed :
Quote: | Thank you for your work on this! Unfortunately candrews doesn't seem interested, and because proxy-maint doesn't take new leaf packages anymore I will close this PR. If you're still interested, this would be welcome in the GURU repository, so please add there! |
retroarch is indeed in guru : https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/proj/guru.git/log/?qt=grep&q=retroarch
although the version is old and needs to be bumped. (1.18.0)
Interesting, I'll read more about guru overlay. Also I could add some libretro core I know to be fully working (the ones I often use), I will need to review a bunch of ebuild before that.. |

sdauth,
It sounds like your are on the slippery slope to package maintenance. :)
Good luck! _________________ Regards,
