[Solved] Steam proton games not launching

Hiya

I had steam and proton running a while back without any issues. Now recently, it stopped working (don't remember when, might've updated a lot of packages (I don't play games all that much)).

Native games run without any issues, no problem. Whenever I try to launch a proton game, however, it's stuck on "launching", and nothing happens. I've tried running steam from the terminal, where I don't seem to see any error messages.

- I've tried reinstalling steam and all my games without any luck
- I've tried installing steam through flatpak, where it just crashes on startup with "Steamwebhelper is not responding"

Is there some way to get more logging out of steam to where I can actually find out what the problem is?
OR
Is there some way to get the flatpak version running?

(also might be a good idea to remove the chroot part of the gentoo wiki steam guide, as steam now requires creating user namespaces, which is not possible in chroots)

Okey I got the flatpak version running.

After leaving the crash message open for a while, it started to download an update, which solved the crash message.
After that i had the following issue: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/10554.

Having fixed that, steam (& proton games) run no issue
