I'm not sure how to code this in my /etc/portage/package.use/ folder.
Please throw me a bone .

Code:
!!! The ebuild selected to satisfy "net-print/hplip" has unmet requirements.
- net-print/hplip-3.23.12-r1::gentoo USE="X hpcups libnotify policykit qt5 snmp -doc -fax -hpijs -kde -libusb0 -minimal -parport -scanner -static-ppds" ABI_X86="(64)" PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET="-python3_10 -python3_11"

You need to add a line to any file in /etc/portage/package.use that reads:
Code:
net-print/hplip <required_use_flags_go_here>
You did not show what requirements were unmet, so I cannot say what flags you need. If I were to guess, based on the current forum threads about Python 3.12, your unmet requirement is probably around PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET, in which case you want:
/etc/portage/package.use:
net-print/hplip PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET: python3_11
This may become an error once hplip gains support for Python 3.12, at which time you can remove this line.

for my part, adding "python_single_target_python3_11" to net-print/hplip resulted in a cascade of other dependencies which I don't want to mess with. For now, I have just added

Code:
*/* PYTHON_TARGETS: -* python3_11 python3_12
*/* PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET: -* python3_11

on the top of my package.use file, which seems to work.

https://bugs.gentoo.org/932150

There's a commit 3 hours ago that might have fixed the problem.

Best Regards,
Georgi

works for me as well, also for other packages like virtualbox, thanks!
