Hello,

Anyone here with a computer that has multiple CPUs (e.g., 2x Xeon with 10C/20T) that they use mainly for Gentoo (+ development perhaps)?

I'm curious about the performance of these machines vs the standard computers with one CPU (i.e, i7 series).

Cheers,

How about Dell PowerEdge R440 and Lenovo ThinkStation P920.

Hello,

you may be able to roughly compare by looking at Phoronix's code compilation benchmarks https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=partner-pub-0253814508491313:1305299758&ie=UTF-8&q=xeon&sa=Search&ref=

Here is a current example: https://www.phoronix.com/review/intel-xeon-6780e-6766e/3

You can use this as a comparison for your system, but of course the compilation time depends on many different factors and Phoronix does not use Gentoo, ramdisk, etc.

As you stated, it might not be specific to Gentoo, but great stuff nonetheless , thx.
