|
|
I'm testing distcc on my laptop and im getting
Code: |
ERROR: failed to write
ERROR: failed to read
ERROR: read failed while waiting for token "DONE" |
the hosts file on my laptop has the correct ip (as output by ifconfig from my desktop) of my host and I have the --allow in my distccd config file on my desktop with the ip of my laptop.
I am also able to successfully ping my desktop from my laptop.
What is frustrating me this time especially is that before, I could check the syslog on my desktop and see some sort of out put from distccd telling me why it wasn't working but this time, I am getting nothing at all and am thus, stuck. |

shmerps,
Baby steps.
Only list localhost in distccs host file.
Run both the client and server on your laptop.
distcc should distribute to localhost. That's not very productive but it proves the setup.
Repeat on the helpers. No you know that both ends can work. It's the bit in the middle that needs to be investigated.
Does your firewall, if any, block the distcc port at either end?
There are lots of packages that distcc cant help with and only the compile phase in distributed.
Configure and linking are still done on the laptop.
You may want to consider a chroot on the server to build binary packages for the laptop then install the binaries. _________________ Regards,
