I don't think a new system like this should have conflicts but please tell me what I'm doing wrong or what other information I should provide to enable diagnosis. _________________ Michael Mounteney |

Please use wgetpaste or other means to post the command you're running and its complete output.

You probably wany emerge -1e @world, if your intention is to reinstall everything.
Or maybe emerge -uDN @world. |

You have ~amd64 in your USE-list. So this is not so safe all the times. Probably you could use amd64 only to resolve that or follow what i write:
Currently there is a problem: Rust 1.78 has been released, but firefox does not work with that:
https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=0db18f492f590e46b3c9a7af10b72693172ea945
So what i did was putting:
Code: |
>=dev-lang/rust-1.78.0
>=dev-lang/rust-bin-1.78.0
|
to my package.mask and hope the stuff gets solved before something really starts depending on the new rust version.
Hope that helps. |

www-client/firefox-127.0 has LLVM-18 and virtual/rust-1.78 support just fine. |

Yes, currently the rust deps situation on ~arch systems is a little bit tricky …

First, wgetpaste would have put everything at one place.
Second, nowhere in the handbook I remember seeing simply emerge @world.
And last, it's appropriate to limit the version of chromium which requires rust-1.78 and causes the conflict while the rust issues get resolved. I would recommend using a binary package - ungoogled-chromium-bin from pf4_public overlay. This way you won't deal with build time dependencies and the packages requiring rust 1.77 will be happy.

@logrusx
for the "emerge @world" command, see EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS in emerge --info
but yes, it is a horrible idea. |

You definitely have an eye for details. Not just details but relevant details :)
