Hi folks
I'm seeing this oddity in all my Gentoo installs, both on real hardware and virtual machines. Just before the grub menu appears, for a fraction of a second I see many of identical lines of messages, of the form
"grub: can't allocate...."
Or something like that. It all happens so quickly that I can't read the text.
It doesn't seem to be causing any further problems, but I'm worried that I'm missing something that might be important.
Is it possible to delay the display of the grub menu, so I can see the errors?

Thanks, but I think it's shouting, rather than mumbling. I believe grub has a 'sleep' instruction, so I will try to find out what the error message actually is.

I tried putting 'sleep 60' in grub.cfg, but the error messages were no clearer. They didn't appear until the 60 seconds expired and were, again, immediately replaced by the menu.
I think the message says something like 'Attempting to read outside...'
As I said, it's not stopping my system booting. But's it's not something I noticed with Fedora on this machine.
It may not be a problem. It's just disconcerting.
