Hi folks

If I follow the documented routine update procedure, will it include kernel updates, if there are any?

And if it will, will I get the same 'distribution' binary kernel that I'm using at present? Or will it have to build from source?

Will the update procedure (if there is one) create a new vmlinuz... file in /boot, or overwrite the existing one? Since they are numbered, I guess these files aren't overwritten.

Will the update procedure take care of updating grub.cfg, or do I have to do that myself? I'd rather do it myself, because I've made a bunch of manual changes to it.

Thanks in advance,

BR, Lars.

According to those, it is done as part of a normal upgrade. If you are using a source based kernel, it will continue to be source based. If you are using the "-bin" kernel, it will continue to be binary based.

At least that's how I understand those links.

OK, thanks. It would be good to know whether I need to protect my grub.cfg from being overwritten by the update process.

I guess I'll just keep a copy, in case.
