So, as the gentoo package repository notes, TexStudio is now available upstream with version 4.8.*. I'm looking at the ebuild for texstudio-4.7.1 from the portage tree to see about bumping the version, and I have a couple questions:

1) the dependencies all list Qt5, but upstream seems to have been supporting Qt6 for some time now. Is there a reason why it's still depending on Qt5?
2) there's a patchfile for quazip. I had some help here the last time I bumped the ebuild with updating it. Do I need to do the same here?

Thanks for the help,

EE

Perhaps 4.7.1 depended on Qt5? Or the ebuild is from the times Qt6 wasn't stable.

The patch might work or not. Might even be not necessary. You should know what is it about, it's not that simple. As I see, the maintainer has fixed something related to qt5 support. Just at the top you see something about Qt6, which seems to confirm it supports Qt6 You might not need it or it might not even work, but it's hard to tell. You need to version bump the ebuild and try to compile it and see what errors you'll get.

Best Regards,
Georgi
