media-libs/libopenshot isn't in gentoo's portage tree...

Maybe the according error should be fixed prior to anything else?

Maybe you had it in local repository, but now deleted?

What happens if you binpkg it, uninstall and call for profile upgrade?
If failure remains and libopenshot is required, plz reinstall binpkg.

I understand, but IIRC package install should be sane enough prior to upgrade...

I use libopenshot for editing videos but I can install it later. I already updated profiles but cant update system itself yet. I'm not trying to update openshot I want to update system itself. it got so many updates in my exams time so I waited till I finish exams and now gentoo keep exit each time I run update command: sudo emerge -avuDN --backtrack=99999 @world

So you already successfully ran emerge -e world after profile upgrade and gcc rebuild, isn't it?

portage reported conflicts are often missing the top source of the issue.
This is why I advise to backup libopenshot, uninstall it and call again for an upgrade pretend (-p) hoping for a clearer undertanding.

Maybe it will work, maybe it will complain almost the same or differently...

Are you stable, unstable, or a mix of the two?

I actually did not do that but trying now still fails. the issue is it refuses to do anything related to update.

Code:

You can see emerge -e world provides new clues on some issues your system has.
Sorry to emphasize this should be fixed first to any upgrade.

Maybe install app-portage/layman and/or games-util/goverlay in local repository or reinstall repository(ies) providing same ebuild(s).
Not sure if less conservative of thoses packages would fit...

As far as dev-libs/libpthread-stubs is concerned, maybe you could umasked it manually in directory.

Once you have emerge -e -p world reporting no issues, it is likely emerge <update> could be fine too.

Once unmasked in etc/portage/package.unmask, it could be required to unmask in /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords too.

Hi, sorry for late reply. I was trying to fix the issue and good and bad news. good news its kind of fixed now and bad news I get new error message.

its long so I added it here: https://privatebin.net/?b3c173c2785519d8#Fs3D11A2XvGwtit6knaddHApGdjgUxkukgq2qFkeGgNw

PS: I rolled back to 17.1 profiles but in both cases I get same error...

esmailelbob,

Updating the profile is a one way trip, or very messy to undo.
Profile updating is only tested on o fully updated system, so the idea is to update first, then switch profiles by following the news item.

Code:
Total: 604 packages (358 upgrades, 1 downgrade, 8 new, 2 in new slots, 235 reinstalls, 1 uninstall), Size of downloads: 4544360 KiB
Conflict: 32 blocks (all satisfied)

That says that the update will run.

Code:
/usr/bin/env: 'bash': No such file or directory
/usr/bin/env: 'bash': No such file or directory
suggests that you are mixing merged-usr and split-usr profiles.

What 17.1 profile did you use?
What 23.0 profile did you choose?
What did you do after your changed profiles?
