I just got a new install of Gentoo, and I've been stuck trying to connect my bluetooth headset for hours how, it pairs just fine, but as soon as I try connecting it, it spews out the following

I've tried connecting the headphones while I have a video playing on firefox, but that doesn't change anything.

I should note that the headset works perfectly using just pulseaudio and not pipewire. |

What version of pipewire and wireplumber are you using?
Wireplumber is the part that actually does the talking to bluetooth.

I should've specified that I'm using Wayland with Hyprland, my bad, but running pgrep -x pipewire-pulse doesn't yield any output. I have Hyprland set up so that it runs gentoo-pipewire-launcher when it starts. |

When I had problems like that, I started bluetoothctl, and removed the device and rescanned, sync'd, trusted, etc, then try to connect again.
I assume you have dbus running, since that's the part that pops out the can't connect to org.bluez.* message

| I've already tried removing, re-adding and re-trusting the device, while audio is playing, and I still run onto the same problem. I'm almost sure I have dbus running as well as I launch Hyprland with dbus-launch, but I'll make sure by tomorrow. |

I've had to run bus-daemon --system as well as needing the session version for the compositor.

I don't remember whether it was the bluetooth trackpad or the headset that needed the --system flag.
From googling

I do have the --system version starting from boot.
Edit to add: Ok, I double checked, pipewire/wireplumber don't need the system dbus, bluetooth does, ie bluez.
ETA2: How are you starting bluetooth?
The next time you try to start the headphones, do an "ps -afex | grep dbus" and "ps -afex | grep bluetoothd"
you should see dbus with the system flag and bluetoothd running.

| Alright, dbus-daemon is running with the --system flag from boot, and bluetoothd is also running as well. I'm running bluetooth with the openrc service. What's odd is that following the pipewire debugging instructions, I do not get any output at all, even when trying to connect, or unpairing, and reconnecting the headset. Am I missing a USE flag with a package? |

I'm beginning to think it has nothing to do with pipewire/wireplumber.
You might try running btmon in a terminal before you try and connect the headphones and see if it says anything.
Edit to add: you don't have the headphones paired with anything else do you?

Interestingly enough, running btmon as root doesn't give any errors, though I'm not sure if that's because btmon is meant to be ran as root, nevertheless, here's the output as root.

Here you can't. You must use an external website, like https://bpa.st/, or another one.
But if nothing happens when you try to connect, I doubt that we find something. |

Is this the full output, including when you try to connect the headset ? If yes, there is a big problem.

That is indeed the full output of the command before trying to plug in the headphones. And I do have the headset paired to my phone as well, but on other distros that wasn't a problem, and the headset works flawlessly with pulseaudio. |

If it worked with pulseaudio, it should work with pipewire/wireplumber, unless there's some configuration causing problems.
Does "wpctl status" and "pw-link -o" show the headphones at all?
As far as pairing with multiple sources, I've had mixed results. My headphones wouldn't work right with being paired to two devices, even though it
claims to be able to multi-pairable. I never bothered chasing it down to see if my config was wrong.
Another thing I had to do was change ControllerMode from dual to bredr, as it didn't work well with trying to connect BLE wise.
If you have another distro that works, then look at /etc/bluetooth/main.conf, and see if they are using the default pipewire/wireplumber config
and depending on the distro, they might have been using the pulse-audio portion of pipewire to run it.
