|
|
Hi,
I have several packages installed with version 9999.
1. Is there any way to update these packages other than manually?
2. If I manually emerge, will the cached distfiles downloaded previously be update?
Thanks for your help. _________________ Regards.

version 9999 likely means e.g. downloading with git. Fortunately, the git eclass still caches distfiles, in /var/cache/distfiles/git3-src/ specifically. Those will be reused (it will fetch new commits incrementally).
You can update live ebuilds using app-portage/smart-live-rebuild; it will check each live package to see whether there are any remote updates and only rebuild if needed. |

Here's Code: | alias mntAs='time emaint -A sync;smart-live-rebuild -p;if [ -d /var/db/repos/gentoo/.tmp-unverified-download-quarantine ];then echo Quarantine directory detected, something went wrong;fi' | 2 be manually launched here for portage sync.
Plz note it always launches Code: | smart-live-rebuild -p | to list for 9999 available updates, which I can later cherrypick from to my liking. Some daily updated packages may not require a systematic rebuild, e.g. app-editors/emacs here but only time to time.
Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support. _________________ USE="-* ..." in /etc/portage/make.conf here, i.e. a countermeasure to portage implicit braces, belt & diaper paradigm
