|
|
When updating Code: | emerge -avquDN rust llvm | if only llvm is updated, then rust is not rebuilt and remains dependent on the old version. Is it possible to somehow specify that when the dependencies are updated, the target program is also rebuild? _________________ My personal overlay on GitHub |

v_0ver,
In short, you can't. Rust is very picky about its llvm version.
The rust ebuild says
Code: | # keep in sync with llvm ebuild of the same version as bundled one.
ALL_LLVM_TARGETS=( AArch64 AMDGPU ARC ARM AVR BPF CSKY DirectX Hexagon Lanai
LoongArch M68k Mips MSP430 NVPTX PowerPC RISCV Sparc SPIRV SystemZ VE
WebAssembly X86 XCore Xtensa )
ALL_LLVM_TARGETS=( "${ALL_LLVM_TARGETS[@]/#/llvm_targets_}" )
LLVM_TARGET_USEDEPS=${ALL_LLVM_TARGETS[@]/%/(-)?} |
so even though the bundled LLVM is not forced, the LLVM version is.
You can patch that in your local overlay. That's your gentoo your way.
You can also keep all the pieces if it breaks. :)
Don't let that stop you trying.
Its worse than that. Other packages are also tied to LLVM versions, Rust is only one. _________________ Regards,
