Fellow gentoo users and developers,
We have a large selection of terminals available, some desktops provide one and there are many others. Some terminals disappear, others appear.
Fvwm-crystal does not provide a terminal, but contains a preference system for the everyday terminal and associated functions. In order to get an actual idea of the terminals that should be included into these preferences, I would like to have a small statistic on their use.
Best regards,

ST (Suckless / Simple Terminal). Many years ago I thought things like tabs, scrollbars etc were essential terminal features but then I realised that screen (and nowadays tmux) are actually a better solution; st is minimalist but it still does everything I need. |

konsole. Not what you'd call minimalist, but I like it.

FWIW I have no preference. They all seem pretty similar to me.

My current terminal is sakura. It's very minimal in code (a single 124KB c file) and does everything i need.
If sakura is not available i like xfce4-terminal too. _________________ The gentoo way of bringing peace to the world:

It is not wise not to list the terminal of one of the most widely used Interfaces (Plasma).

I made another mistake, I put thunar, which is a file manager.
Will plasma work outside of kde? I suppose so, but I prefer to ask. Which package install it? _________________ "Confirm You are a robot." - the singularity |

I'd also like to add Konsole there, but that would skew the results. _________________ ..: Zucca :..

Yes thank you. It would be fine if you remove thunar.
For konsole, I put it on the list at first, but it was too many options... so to replace thunar with konsole will be even better, even if that screw the results. Anyway, I will have the date of that change, so I can make a little calculation with the preceding comments.
I removed thunar, but left the poll otherwise intact. I really don't want to skew the results. Even if I could add Konsole and move few votes from "other" to Konsole the results might be wrong. You may want to create an external poll and maybe use qsearch -S 'terminal emulator' as a base. --Zucca _________________ "Confirm You are a robot." - the singularity |

I was a long-time aterm user. After it was unceremoniously kicked to the curb, I tried a few and landed on xterm. I like that it's mostly minimal but still easy to customize. If I end up using tmux more, I might look more into st again, but I'm satisfied with my current workflow. |

A long time ago I used some rxvt variants, tilda, and some that come with a DE. I didn't perceive any gains, so I switched back to xterm at some point and have rarely given it any more thought. I suppose I'll have to give it some thought if I ever use wayland (or whatever it's correct name is). _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
