When moving from Shorewall should I choose Foomuuri?

On the one hand I can't bare to leave Shorewall's documentation, functionality or simplicity, not to mention support, and on the other I know I have to face facts. I must leave Shorewall's grave at some stage and move on, but what should I use instead?

I need to filter ingress and egress according to port, source and destination. I can probably do without accounting and don't do much rate limiting. I'm use to using Shorewall and given that I can nolonger do this, should I jump to Foomuuri or something else?

Maybe give a chance to nftables without any frontend.
