Doing my monthly updates, and the system is getting stuck updating autoconf:

Code:
Total: 124 packages (79 upgrades, 1 new, 2 in new slots, 42 reinstalls), Size of downloads: 0 KiB

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]

>>> Verifying ebuild manifests

>>> Running pre-merge checks for sys-apps/util-linux-2.39.3-r7

>>> Running pre-merge checks for dev-lang/python-3.12.3-r1

>>> Running pre-merge checks for dev-lang/python-3.10.14_p1-r1

>>> Running pre-merge checks for net-misc/openssh-9.7_p1-r6

>>> Running pre-merge checks for dev-db/mysql-8.0.36
 * Checking for at least 3 GiB disk space at "/var/tmp/portage/dev-db/mysql-8.0.36/temp" ...                                                          [ ok ]

>>> Running pre-merge checks for sys-apps/portage-3.0.65-r1
 * Determining the location of the kernel source code
 * Found kernel source directory:
 *     /usr/src/linux
 * Found sources for kernel version:
 *     6.6.21-gentoo
 * Checking for suitable kernel configuration options ...                                                                                             [ ok ]

>>> Running pre-merge checks for sys-apps/pciutils-3.12.0

>>> Emerging (1 of 124) dev-build/autoconf-2.71-r7::gentoo

and that's as far as it's gone, I've waited about 15 minutes and nothing.

"tail -f /var/log/emerge-fetch.log" shows all of the stuff has already been downloaded and passed checksum. There's about 18GB of free space. Not sure how to troubleshoot. Any help is appreciated.

Looked up someone else's issue to see how they solved it, they suggested a reboot and try again and it worked. Guess what: it did for me too.

So.... whatever I guess.
