|
|
Hello all,
I could not achieve to have my sound to work on my new AZUS Laptop with freshly installed gentoo.
All the 'sound' Fn button on my keyboard "seems" to work. When I open alsamixer, pressing Fn-F2 (+) and Fn-F3 (-) make the 'speaker' bar of the alsamixer GUI to go up and down.
Pressing Fn-F1 mute/unmute master and speaker.
But when playing a video, I do not have any sound.

Check with 'speaker-test -t wav -c 2' if that works the issue is either with your media player, media player codec missing or video file does not have audio track.
If speaker-test does not work, double-check if sof-firmware is installed and then show 'pa-info' output collected from normal user (not root) while trying to play audio. |

Hello,
Thank you to you both for your answer:

All sinks are muted (as it happens when you start pulseaudio for the first time), use volume control to unmute and adjust volume and check again. |

Hello,
Thank you for your answer.
I've already used 'alsamixer' to unmute all what I can (As shown in the image below:
https://pasteboard.co/1dtcU4B5WfPy.jpg)
Do you mean something else ? |

Yes please double-check muted sinks in pa-info output. Maybe try pavucontrol Output Devices tab, or use pactl to unmute. |

Please check pa-info again, see if Master volume control is off again in 'Mixer controls for card sofhdadsp' section.
Please try testing alsa device directly too like this 'pasuspender -- speaker-test -t wav -c 2 -D hw:0,0' to test speaker output. While speaker-test is running check if mixer volume controls are off. |

Hello,
I launch "pulseaudio -vvv" as root while playing a video on youtub (I've got the sound when using either bluetooth and/or headphones).
Only speaker does not wortk. And when I look at the output of "pulseaudio -vvv" I saw the HDMI output and headphones, but not speaker
Perhaps my system take "headphones" as "speaker" and this is why I do not have sound.
Is there a way to check this?

Do not run as root, normal user should be fine.
For jack detection stuff check 'jacks_do' section in pa-info output, look for changes when you plug/unplug jack (could be that you are plugging to wrong outlet.) |
