Is this normal?

I have a wiki running under tomcat that I want to keep in cvs so I have a symbolic link from my home directory so that I can commit changes under my user name.

The problem is everytime I do so, the file permissions and ownership change to reflect my username and group instead of tomcat:tomcat which tomcat needs to read/write the files.

What is the best way to set this up?

I've tried putting tomcat into the users group but this doesn help either as the file permissions as the file permissions also get reset so that only the owner has write permission.

All help greatly appreciated. This is driving me nuts hehehehe
