Hi,
I have tried installing linux-firmware with an empty fstab.
The package said "assuming that you do not have a separate /* partition".
Would it not be helpful to add a warning if no separate partitions are found? |

I do not see the string assuming that you anywhere in the Portage tree. Please post the exact message you saw.
I do see Assuming you do not have a separate ${partition} partition. in eclass/mount-boot-utils.eclass, which could produce a message similar to what you posted. I don't see a way for it to get a * though. I think the message you paraphased is the warning that no separate partition was found. |

I'm pretty sure i've encountered the "Assuming you do not have a separate /boot partition" message,
it's not that critical to add a warning or anything, though you could make a proposition for the change
to be made. |

It does seem like there should be a check that tries to confirm a correct environment rather than assuming. But I don't know what that would be.
I'd be curious to see the result of a bug report. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
