Today when I tried to update my Gentoo system, portage dies with an error message:

Read the news item?
If you are describing an emerge problem, *always* include the full output including your emerge command. You should know the drill by now. |

The command I used was | Code: | emerge -avuUD @world
|

Never mind. I did an | Code: | | emerge --unmerge kde-apps/akonadi-contacts |
and that appears to have resolved my difficulty.

I tried both of those. They didn't work. "deselect" said "not in world file". "depclean" said "nothing to delete". Anyway, what I did seems to have worked. Thanks for the suggestions.

| It might have worked but it wasn't the correct fix. But it's too late to investigate it now given you've unmerged it. |
