|
|
Hi
After Plasma 6 update, have following problems with Kmail:
1. No dates shown in message list.
2. Can not send mail. Sending fails with message "Failed to transport message. Error during SSL handshake: error:0A00010B:SSL routines::wrong version number "
Are either of these fixable?
It is possible that my ISP once again changed something on their end, but problem surfaced after update here ....

Tried right click on the column headers -> [Date]?

Make sure your upgrade has finished completely with no packages left pending updates. I found one such - similar - bug report, but quite old and before anything KF6 was yet available:

The date column is there where it has been for nearly two decades, but there are no dates in it.
Will revert on sending ... SSL library updated this morning. Will reboot later.

I see date is also missing when I open the message.
It is there if you view source.
Wonder if this is Akonadi rather than Kmail ...

You could try running `akonadictl fsck` |

Mail sending issue is resolved following ISP advice to set encryption to "None".
akonadictl fsck did not help.
tried to emerge -1a kdepim-meta but that just reinstalls that package rather than all of KDE-PIM as it says in the description ....
Will ponder some more.

You could try to change the design settings for the date display (right click on "date" and change "design" and try different options).
Maybe there is some setting which is not compatible any more or which was not converted properly.
I also have customized settings for kmail but mine work fortunately, so I think it is not a general kmail issue with plasma 6. |

Problem is resolved ... looks like the devs decided to force the date format to "little children and corporateland" version (yesterday, last week, etc) which does not play nice with my flat date view.
Resetting it back to how it was fixed the problems.

Assuming you're alluding to this
Quote: | KDE PIM - merge this to pull in all kdepim-derived packages |
That is a package description, and pulling all of them it does.
But when you have a package already installed - any package - und you tell Portage to re-emerge that package ... it never rebuilds all its dependencies, since they are already there. A meta package is not any kind of a magic package making Portage behave differently when you select it for rebuild.
But glad you got your problem fixed. |
