I've been using some select kde apps in my xfce x11 session. Now portage wants to update them to kde 6 and would draw in wayland dependencies. Is it possible to continue using my xfce x11 session, maybe even disabling the wayland dependencies for the kde apps? Or would I have to upgrade to wayland, which would be inconvenient for me as I use stuff which still does not work on wayland or has no proper replacement in wayland, like mouse gestures? |

The Wayland support is completely irrelevant for your X session, don't worry about it. |

As in, don't even work via Xwayland? E.g. i use GIMP, and it runs fine in my Wayfire session, using Xwayland. Are there programs Xwayland doesn't work for? |

I am using this mouse gestures app and so far there is nothing with comparable functionality for wayland. I am also using xfce, I like it and it does not have wayland support yet. |
