Oh, not the most obvious choice of protocol for the purpose.

Sure, but sometimes that's the protocol that needs to be used due to firewall configurations (a number of which allow HTTP traffic in a way they don't allow traffic involving other protocols).

Well, in that case, i suggest you open a bug on bugs.gentoo.org with that patch, to bring it to the maintainers' attention and allow them to consider it. |
