Posted: Mon Sep 16, 2024 3:21 am Post subject: Unable to boot newly installed Gentoo |
|
|
I'm installing Gentoo on my Raptor Blackbird (ppc64le) system. I want a kernel with a 4KB page size, as I'm wanting to get the nouveau driver working with my NVIDIA graphics card.
I followed the Handbook's instructions and installed the Distribution kernel. I was able to boot, but nouveau didn't load, and then I noticed that the distribution kernel uses a 64KB page size. This was no good to me. I went back and compiled and installed a "full manual" kernel. When attempting to boot with this kernel, something crashes, and then reboots the system before it finishes booting. The output on the console is as follows:

There appears to be a problem with ld64, but I have no clue what it is, or how to fix it.
I thought I would compare the differences in config between the 2 kernels, but there are hundreds, and I'm not sure about what might be related. What can I do to try to resolve this issue? |
