"No such file or directory" in virtualbox install

I was installing Gentoo on VirtualBox so I would have a system to install Gentoo onto a Raspberry Pi with. However, when I got to the step that told me to "Mount the neccessary filesystems," it told me that all the /mnt/gentoo subdirectories did not exist. I tried to mkdir them, but when I got to /bin/bash, it didn't let me make it, even though it worked on all the others. Is this something normal, or did I miss something?

I would say - most likely; but not showing actual commands and output makes it a bit harder.

Did you download and untar a stage3 to /mnt/gentoo? (ie. https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Stage)
And confirmed that's where you actually untarred it to?
