+ + openmp : Build support for the OpenMP (support parallel computing),
requires >=sys-devel/gcc-4.2 built with USE="openmp"
- - qmanifest : Build qmanifest applet, this adds additional dependencies for
GPG, OpenSSL and BLAKE2B hashing
- - static : !!do not set this during bootstrap!! Causes binaries to be
statically linked instead of dynamically |
Theses flags aren't activated here (cf signature).
Anyone to explain what these applets are useful at?

The simple answer is that if you don't use /usr/bin/qmanifest, then you don't need that enabled.
It's used as an alternative to verify or generate Manifest files. |

Well it's defaulted to in profile.
There must be a good reason for that...
Is there any other way to verify Manifest files?

Default on the package itself rather than profile, probably because it just wants to provide its full set of tools by default. This one just happen to have extra dependencies so it was allowed to be optional for those that want to avoid these.

With portage itself, portage-utils re-implements a lot of portage functionality and the difference is just that it's often faster at doing so and can be easier to use in scripts. |
