|
|
Hello,
I meet a SMART error on two different HP dc5800 computers. After updating the kernel (gentoo-sources from 6.6.47 to 6.6.52), it seems impossible do read my SDD SMART logs, so the Nagios check_ide_smart check are critical. Rebooting to the previous kernel solves the problem.

Is this a bug, or a PEBKAC ?

I have more or less the same problem; after updating from gentoo-kernel-6.6.47 to 6.6.51, hddtemp is suddenly unable to read SMART data:
Code: |
hddtemp /dev/sda
/dev/sda: TOSHIBA DT01ACA050 : S.M.A.R.T. not available
|
That happens on all 4 drives I have on this Gentoo PC.
And again, on another device running Arch Linux, hddtemp has no problems with 6.6.52 kernel...
There's something seriously wrong with the gentoo-kernel-6.6.51/52 configs or patches. _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"

Over at bugs, all I see is a gentoo-sources stabilization bug:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/939927
It would be a good idea to open a bug and maybe check on IRC. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
