I have installed xfce4-screensaver and set the properties -- I have turned off 'lock screen'.. The screensaver is running (?) as there is a process

4632 tty2 00:00:00 xfce4-screensav

It is set to blank the screen after 5 minutes of inactivity but leaving it with no movement of the mouse or key stroke for longer than this still leaves the screen showing the same content.

How can I get it to work?
