I'm attempting to emerge 23.0.4 of BareOS onto my Gentoo server and for whatever reason, the ebuild cannot git clone fmt.

Relevant infos:

Code:
cacti ~ # emerge -pqv app-backup/bareos
[ebuild     U ] app-backup/bareos-23.0.4 [23.0.3] USE="acl clientonly ipv6 readline (split-usr) storage-daemon vim-syntax xattr -X -ceph -director -glusterfs -lmdb -logwatch -ndmp -scsi-crypto -static -systemd -tcpd -test -vmware" CPU_FLAGS_X86="-avx"

The ebuild just barfs trying to do it. Any ideas?

Based on numerous other threads where git clone succeeds by hand, but fails in an ebuild, this appears to be a bug in the upstream build system. It is attempting to use the network during the build. That is wrong, and not allowed. This was reported a month ago as app-backup/bareos-23.0.4 fails to compile: fatal: unable to access : Could not resolve host: github.com. There is no resolution at this time. It might be possible to avoid this problem if you prevent the upstream build system from deciding to download fmtlib. Does it help if you emerge --ask --verbose --oneshot dev-libs/libfmt first? If yes, then please comment on the bug that having that package present avoids the erroneous download.

Thanks!

And holy crap, it looks like that is working. If it completes successfully, I'll comment on the bug you linked.

It never ceases to amaze me that after over 21 years of using Gentoo, there's always still something to learn about how it works.
